Your Role
- Receive service calls from our Service Resource Center, including brief descriptions of equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/systems problems.
- Diagnose and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to repair equipment.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including Simplex systems.
- When needed use blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals to support service of our customers equipment.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices, such as smartphones and laptops.
- Obtain customer signatures upon completing service call assignments.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and help train or mentor others on the service team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Outstanding interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills.
- Must be able to professionally represent Johnson Controls to customers in person and over the phone.
- 1+ year of experience or training in low-voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, or Paging systems; OR 1+ year of training or experience in related systems (e.g., IT/computer networks, manufacturing systems repair, or electrical systems).
- Candidates with a combination of education and hands-on training in these areas are welcome.
- Ability to review operational/installation product manuals and develop a plan to resolve system issues.
- Knowledge of equipment that can be used to diagnose systems, such as voltage/ multi-meters.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to professionally represent Johnson Controls in person with strong communication skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work safely in many different positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within small spaces, above ceilings, etc. (Johnson Controls is committed to Safety and expects all employees to work safely and use Stop Work at any time to ensure work can be performed safely).
- Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including periodic OT or weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Limited overnight travel to attend occasional training classes.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
- Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
- Completion of Simplex 4007ES training within 12 months.
Preferred:
- State of Kentucky Fire Inspector Certification.
- NICET Level I certification.
Note: The candidate will be assigned to the Louisville, KY office and will work onsite at the Bowling Green, KY location.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20 - $27 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
