Works to achieve operational goals with direct impact on achievement of results within area of work on the R&D Software / Systems Engineering team. Collaborates with team members to plan, estimate, and write clear requirements and acceptance criteria. Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software and documents issues encountered. Identifies product design features to support scalability, usability, and improved performance. Delivers technical reports, technical memoranda, and other documents for internal and external distribution. Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities. Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement embedded software for a class II medical device
  • Construction and maintenance of software requirements
  • Design and implementation of software interfaces
  • Test case development, unit and integration testing
  • Leading and participating in design reviews, code reviews and system integration activities
  • Manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager
  • Coach, review and delegate work to lower-level professionals
  • Collaborate on a multidisciplinary team including internal and external resources

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in software, computer science, electrical engineering or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Proven execution of formal engineering development processes and compliance to industry standards is required; medical industry experience preferred.
  • Experience should include:
    • Embedded software development
    • Development in C, C++
    • Data acquisition in an embedded environment
    • Quality systems in a regulated industry
    • Version control and issue tracking systems
    • Medical device development, including ISO 62304 preferred
    • Linux use and development experience preferred
    • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills preferred
    • Motor control experience preferred
    • Development in html, css, and javascript preferred
    • Possesses a "team player" attitude, takes pride in their work and has excellent communication skills
    • Operates independently as a self-starter with high attention to detail

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $161,000. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401k). This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program. Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year. Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year. Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
