The Senior Design for Serviceability Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Service Innovation and R&D teams. This position involves establishing collaboration between R&D, Service Innovation and other cross-functional product development team members to enhance the performance and reliability of our robotic medical platforms. You will be responsible for developing innovative solutions that address Design for Serviceability, optimizing mechanisms, and supporting service business. Incorporate the Design for Serviceability concepts in the product design process.
Contribute to the vision of the Service business by providing inputs to the Service product roadmap.
Formulates new solutions by integral, original thinking and adds new service innovation concepts/elements to combine abstract ideas at a high conceptual level to generate new types of solutions.
Investigate new designed products on their Serviceability based upon the defined (general) Service requirements. Advises development how to realize an optimal Serviceability and Reliability on both products and components levels.
Participate in technology studies to represent Service point of view, work with the team on Service-related issues, investigate the implication of this new technology on the Service processes, translate this into business impact and defend it in the project team.
Act as the linking point of collaboration between R&D, manufacturing and Service teams to address the Service requirements in the product creation process.
Develop design modifications and upgrades based on field feedback. Interface effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering and manufacturing, to support product improvements.
Work on CAD design, drawings, related documentation, and specifications for modifications.
Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians to enhance team capabilities and ensure best practices are followed.
Background in robotics or medical capital equipment preferred.
Basic knowledge of working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.
Knowledge and experience with ASME Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning and Tolerancing application and best practices.
Minimum 5 years with Master's degree or 10 years with Bachelor degree with relevant experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies.
Ability to perform basic FEA and other analyses focused on mechanical strength, heat generation, and dynamic performance.
Knowledge of and compliance with applicable Quality System requirements (e.g., traceability QSRs, ISO and MDD requirements.) and other applicable regulations,
Proven excellence in mechanism design, problem-solving and analytical skills; experience with use of statistical analysis and design of experiments for product optimization and validation activities.
Experience in DFX, designing for Serviceability, lean methodologies.
Strong communication skills and the ability to learn from others while mentoring more junior team members.
Able to collaborate with all levels and functions of the organization; requires a cooperative team-balanced perspective for appropriate output and task outcome.
Experience in Program Management, use of Gantt Charts or Smartsheet is a plus.
Proficiency in Statistics (Cpk, Hypothesis Testing, DOE, Gage R&R) a plus.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $121,000 - $194,350 Bay Area Only.
