The Geel site is the largest chemical production site for synthetic APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) within the Johnson & Johnson supply chain. Are you a hands-on Technical Safety Engineer with a passion for improving technical safety processes and ensuring our assets are in line with the highest standards of technical safety? Join our Global Engineering & Technology (GET) group at the Geel site — the largest small molecule API production site in our supply chain — and help ensure lifesaving medicines reach patients safely and reliably.
About the role
As Technical Safety Engineer, you will act as the process owner for several technical safety processes. While we do not expect expertise in every area from day one, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of as many processes as possible and develop proficiency in many over time. These processes include functional safety, safety device calculations, ATEX and Explosion Protection Document (EPD), PED, machine safety, and process safety calculations.
You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary external team at the Geel site, working closely together with our maintenance and engineering teams making sure all technical safety standards are correctly applied in projects to support launch & grow activities for new products.

Qualifications & skills
Masters level Engineering degree in chemical/ process safety engineering.
The successful candidate will have experience, skills and track record of achievement in the following
Focus and deep-seated understanding and dedication to technical safety in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
Ability to make decisions on technical safety related topics
Encourages and supports the identification and development of innovative engineering solutions to technical safety problems.
