Traffic Design Engineer

By joining our team, you'll be a key member of our Traffic Engineering group in the San Antonio, Austin, or Houston, TX offices. We're looking for someone to support our traffic PS&E projects such as signal design, ITS, pavement marking, and signing, etc. You'll work within a team that also works on a variety of transportation and traffic engineering projects related to traffic operations, safety analysis, corridor studies, traffic simulation modeling, signal timing & operations, and traffic design. Work will be performed utilizing traffic design software like OpenRoads and SignCAD, and with traffic engineering software including Synchro, Vissim, Highway Capacity Software (HCS).

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Performs civil design for a variety of projects, drawings, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required by assignments.

• Perform traffic analysis tasks from data collection, reporting analysis results, and writing technical reports.

• Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians.

• Reviews drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers then recommend necessary changes.

• Research design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.

• Provides project cost estimating.

• Maintains effective communication with project team members and project leads.

• Assists in preparation of technical reports.

• Research federal, state, and local government standards and regulations.

Here's what you'll need:

• BS in Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation/Traffic Engineering discipline

• 2 years experience in transportation/traffic engineering design

• Experience with traffic software including Synchro, Vissim, or HCS

Ideally, you'll also have:

• PE license

• Previous work experience in traffic/transportation engineering

• Experience with design software (i.e., MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.)

• Familiarity with Highway Capacity Manual, MUTCD, HSM is a plus

• Previous work experience with TxDOT and other Texas municipalities

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $100,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
