Senior Bridge Engineer

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Build the Future. Shape the Skyline. Lead the Way.

At Jacobs, we do more than design bridges. We connect communities, empower progress, and engineer possibilities. If you are ready to turn relationships into impact and innovation into infrastructure, join us in Boise and help grow something truly meaningful.

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of our Boise team, leading transformative transportation structure projects across Idaho and beyond. This role goes beyond design. We are looking for someone who can connect with clients, bring trusted relationships, and play a key role in expanding and mentoring our bridge practice in the region.

Your experience working with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), and Idaho Highway Districts will be essential as you help strengthen partnerships, identify opportunities, and position Jacobs as a trusted advisor.

From steel girders to prestressed concrete, your technical expertise will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow, while your client leadership will help grow our presence and influence across the state.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead bridge and transportation structure design projects with precision and creativity
  • Build and strengthen client relationships, serving as a trusted partner to ITD, LHTAC, and Idaho Highway Districts
  • Leverage your network and experience to help grow and develop our Idaho bridge program
  • Collaborate with Jacobs teams and partners to pursue and win new work
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings with Jacobs staff and subcontractors
  • Perform quality reviews and manage budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks
  • Mentor junior engineers and CAD staff, fostering a culture of growth and innovation
  • Contribute to proposals and strategic pursuits that expand our market presence
  • Engage in national design work, bringing your expertise to projects across the country

We are not a traditional engineering firm. We are a global force for innovation, sustainability, and resilience. At Jacobs, you will work on projects that matter with people who care. Together, we will build a stronger future for Idaho's communities.

Here's what you'll need:

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • PE registration
  • 15 plus years of bridge design experience including steel girder, prestressed concrete, and earth retaining structures
  • Strong working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design code
  • Proficiency in LARSA, Midas, CSi Bridge, or other finite element modeling software
  • Experience with other structural design software such as Leap Bridge, Bridge Link, LPile, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Experience working with ITD, LHTAC, and or Idaho Highway Districts
  • Strong leadership and project delivery experience
  • Experience supporting or leading proposal development
  • Ideally, you will also have:
  • A Masters degree, or higher, focused on Structural Engineering
  • Design build project experience
  • Proven success in business development and growing client accounts
  • Experience helping build or expand a regional bridge practice or technical group
  • Project Manager experience
