Principal Electrical Engineer – Thermal

The Principal Electrical Engineer – Thermal is responsible for providing consultancy services in the development, design and implementation of thermal energy generation projects in the APAC region and beyond as required. Technologies will predominately include gas turbine-based projects but may also include waste to energy and renewable projects.

This role requires detailed knowledge of the generation development processes, technical design, EPC delivery, due diligence and owner's engineering.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading project teams to facilitate generation project delivery. Act as Senior SME as part of multiple project teams.
• Driving a culture of learning and teaching to support regional team's technical capabilities, including support of junior project team members.
• Leading and delivering project scopes including Technical Advisor, Owner's Engineer, Designer, and Lender's Technical Advisor or Independent Certifier.
• Building global networks, coordinating and engaging with best technical resources and project managers to deliver projects.
• Providing overall leadership acting as project manager, design manager or discipline lead using experience to identify opportunities and risks.
• Leading and undertaking design/review/assurance tasks on projects as senior QC reviewer across multiple global regions.
• Undertaking and leading generation advisory services for key clients in the APAC region and beyond.
• Undertaking consulting roles, feasibility assessments, conceptual design, tender engineering, detail design and specification for generation projects, including mentoring others.
• Managing and maintaining compliance with Jacobs QA procedures, including the deliverables review QA process.
• Undertaking detail design technical reviews to confirm requirements have been met as part of Jacobs QA process.
• Undertaking tender evaluation process and providing technical recommendations.
• Preparing feasibility studies; establishing technical specifications and tender documents.
• Undertaking construction-phase site inspections and reporting on quality and progress.
• Performance review of operational sites.
• Working collaboratively with other team members and mentoring to deliver project objectives, and goals and targets of the team, section and PU.
• Undertaking technical due diligence for development or operational projects, and facilitating innovation and value engineering leadership.
• Business development activities across the APAC Energy and Power sector and with a strong focus on thermal generation projects.
• Leading pursuits and proposals including representing Jacobs at conferences to build relationships and profile.
• Scoping and price-up work from a request for proposal – including consulting roles, owner's engineer, tender engineering to inform E for EPC roles and detail design.
• Undertaking risk identification and developing mitigation plans and processes.
• Supporting other generation projects as required, depending on know-how and experience.
• Identifying and maintaining strong key client relationships.
• Identifying new opportunities and collaborating with the client management team to win work.
• Promoting safety culture within the organization and with our clients.
• Supporting PU to ensure it can thrive in a global setting, encouraging cross-geography relationships in order to maximize the benefit of global delivery to our clients and our people.

Here's what you'll need:

• B.S. in Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, plus applicable registrations
• Minimum 15+ years' relevant industry experience preferred
• Lead and deliver technically excellent engineering designs and consultancy services.
• Independently and lead others to undertake design and review on Projects.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) level advice to clients and project teams.
• Strong communicator and ability to work across geographies.
• Has an in-depth expertise in own job discipline and broad knowledge of other job disciplines within the Power industry. Innovation and value engineering leadership across projects and clients.
• Leads project and discipline teams to achieve project milestones and objectives.
• Develops competent teams and coach/mentor other engineers locally and remotely.
• Lead development of generation project scopes / methodology to provide solutions for client needs.
• Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges, risks and opportunities.
• Recommends process, product or service improvements.
• Directly liaise with clients in a confident manner and lead meetings with clients.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, develop business and secure new opportunities with existing and new clients
