The power utility market is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, with drivers such as artificial intelligence and the electrification of infrastructure creating exponential load growth for power utilities across North America. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to expand the delivery of reliable power solutions to the North American market.

We are seeking professional candidates with gas turbine and/or thermal generation power plant knowledge and experience to lead and grow our power generation practice for North America. In this role, you will be responsible for construction oversight and field services for utility scale power generation projects. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor products provided and installed by contractors and suppliers for quality and conformance to design requirements.
  • Participate in trouble shooting and investigate root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements.
  • Determine and pursue courses of action as necessary to obtain desired results.
  • Develop testing requirements for all systems, including electrical, mechanical and controls.
  • Develop functional requirements and associated checklists and verification requirements for systems.
  • Develop independent schedules for construction activities for purposes of tracking contractor and vendor progress and identification of project risks.
  • Contribute to constructability reviews of ongoing design projects.
  • Evaluate a design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.

In the performance of your work, you will be viewed as the technical project representative of the Jacobs engineering design team. You may also provide work direction to a team of technicians and other professionals as necessary to complete assignments.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 15+ years relevant field experience with the construction, maintenance, startup and/or commissioning of gas turbine, steam turbine and/or steam systems
  • Proven ability to engage and develop strong working relationships with clients, vendors, EPC contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

Work Location: This role is commonly assigned to project construction sites with intermittent work from home or office between field assignments.

The base salary range for this position is $130,900.00 to $179,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
