Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Highway/Roadway/Traffic/ITS) to join our Transportation team in San Diego, California in Summer 2026, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and apply your academic knowledge to real-world transportation engineering challenges. You will assist our team in various aspects of highway/roadway/traffic/ITS design and learn about industry-standard procedures and software.

Project opportunities may include supporting the design or operational analysis of interstate highways, freeway interchanges, and major arterial roads. You'll work alongside experienced Engineers and Project Managers, gaining valuable insights into transportation engineering.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

  • Support engineering teams with a variety of technical tasks and project-related duties.
  • Assist engineers in the research, development, planning, operational analysis and design highway/roadway projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and documentation.
  • Perform basic geometric design calculations or level of service analysis for highway and roadway projects.
  • Planning tasks and traffic operational tasks

Here's What You'll Need:

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Completed coursework related to transportation engineering or highway/roadway design

Ideally, You Will Have:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • At least a rising Junior
  • Familiarity with CAD software, such as OpenRoads and AutoCAD
  • A previous internship related to your field of study
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to transportation infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $61,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
