The Civil Engineering Co-op at Jacobs provides engineering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific area of study. Co-ops will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment. The candidate would be exposed to tasks civil engineering disciplines including roadway design, structural engineering, transportation planning/engineering, aviation, and intelligent transportation systems. The Civil Engineering Co-op position consists of a minimum of three alternating terms (semesters) where engineering experience is built upon previous efforts. The Co-op may rotate between various civil engineering disciplines or focus on proficiency in one or two areas. The intent is that the Co-op is completing graduate engineer tasks by the end of the last work term. Co-op employment should be coordinated with your university. Typical work tasks include; performing calculations and evaluations in the design of solutions and systems for public infrastructure applications and developing plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for use during construction. You will also be responsible for using computer-assisted engineering software, collecting and preparing data, plan development and assisting in the design of fiber option and wireless communications.
- Commitment to work a minimum of three alternating semesters. - Candidate must be currently enrolled in at least their freshman or sophomore year working towards a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field - Knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred - Working knowledge of Word and Excel is required - Excellent oral and written communications skills - Ability to work in thrive in a team environment - Valid driver's license - Strong oral and written communications skills Other Essential Functions: Position is primarily based in an office environment. Some domestic work related travel, outdoor field integration and oversight will be required. Candidate should be eager to learn, willing to take on new tasks, interact with clients, and grow professionally with Jacobs.
The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
