Lab Aide

Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington is seeking a dedicated Lab Aide to provide hands-on support for a student with a disability in the Culinary Arts Lab. This role ensures the student has full access to the course by assisting with physical tasks during instructional labs.

Position Details:

• Hours per Week: 10
• Schedule: Mondays & Tuesdays | 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Hourly Wage: $15

Major Responsibilities

• Assist the student with physical and fine motor tasks (e.g., carrying up to 40 lbs., operating culinary equipment, stirring, kneading, etc.)
• Safely manipulate culinary utensils and tools as directed
• Support the student with basic cleaning and kitchen practices
• Follow the student's instructions and act as the student's hands and arms during lab activities
• Maintain a professional, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Minimum Qualifications

• Current ServSafe certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions effectively
• Professional appearance, demeanor, and personal hygiene
• Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
• Commitment to projecting a positive image of Ivy Tech Community College
