Job Description: The College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Iowa State University is seeking a highly organized and service-focused Student Services Program Specialist to join our Student Services Center. Reporting to the Director of Student Services, this position offers a diverse range of responsibilities in a high-traffic, multi-function center that supports students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners. This role provides leadership in office operations, student orientation, career services support, and event coordination—helping ensure a welcoming and efficient environment that enhances the overall student experience in CHHS.

What You'll Do

Student Services Center Operations

  • Serve as Office Manager for CHHS Student Services Center, which includes Career Services, International Programs, and Recruitment.
  • Oversee front office coverage, including phone, email, and Canvas accounts, and manage general online communications content.
  • Hire, train, and supervise Student Office Assistants.
  • Manage meeting rooms, office supplies, computers, copier, phones, events, and emergency preparedness policies.

Orientation Program Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate all new student orientation activities for CHHS.
  • Communicate with new students and their families through multiple channels and provide large-group presentations during orientation events.
  • Collaborate with departmental advisors for 16 majors to coordinate advising appointments, expectations, and schedules.
  • Represent CHHS in university-level orientation committee meetings.
  • Note: Vacation time during the month of June is very limited due to the orientation schedule.

Career Services Support

  • Serve as the lead in collecting, preparing, and analyzing internship data and reports for CHHS.
  • Act as CyHire career management system administrator, including employer job posting review and database management.
  • Provide day-of staffing support for Career Services events.

Event and Meeting Coordination

  • Assist the Student Services and Career Services Directors in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and maintaining online records.
  • Support CHHS events such as College of Health and Human Sciences Week and advising committee meetings.
