The Service Manager reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, and Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations, and eCommerce. All positions except those listed above or designated by the Store Director report to this position.
Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, generating a friendly atmosphere, providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, planning and adjusting work schedules, supervising and coordinating activities of employees, learning to formulate pricing philosophies, ensuring proper customer service, evaluating employee performance, and training workers in store policies and job duties. The role also involves ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, determining location and quality of ad and promotional displays, explaining store services, understanding store accounting, and adhering to department and company guidelines.
Secondary duties and responsibilities include determining the motivational needs of employees, staying current with market trends, providing continuous education for store employees, selling merchandise, handling cash registers, recommending cost reduction programs, reviewing personnel records, recommending merchandise allocation, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job-related duties and special projects.
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include problem-solving skills, arithmetic calculations, interviewing skills, and following technical manuals. Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of similar or related work experience. Supervisory responsibilities include instructing, assigning work, reviewing work, planning the work of others, and coordinating activities.
Physical requirements include the ability to perform medium work, visual requirements, and physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Working conditions include exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and chemicals. The position is authorized to purchase merchandise and supplies and order repairs on equipment. Contacts include daily contact with customers, employees, suppliers/vendors, and the general public, and occasional contact with federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections. Confidentiality includes access to confidential information such as pricing, sales reports, profit and loss reports, and wages.
