Process Controls Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with project managers to review and interpret user requirements.
• Create detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Select and specify instrumentation tailored to each unique system.
• Design control panels for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Design electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Design equipment network architecture.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Essential Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in designing control systems.
• Familiarity with Allen Bradley products.
• Proven experience in designing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience in designing VFD and motor control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience and understanding of Hazardous Location requirements and protection methods.
• Strong proficiency in UL and NEC Electrical standards.
• High standard of integrity and superb communication skills.
• Team-focused, customer-service oriented, and self-motivated.
• Detail-oriented with excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Extreme ownership to see projects through completion.

Work Environment:

• This role involves prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Travel is required, approximately 5%-10% of the time.
• The position is hybrid, with the option to live in the Chicago or St. Louis area. Occasional onsite presence for factory acceptance testing may be needed.

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract position based out of Peoria, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $62.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
