Shift: 11am-7pm Monday-Friday

Complete and supervise the completion of food preparation and preparation by utilizing pre-weighed ingredients, recipes and the daily production schedules, so that the food indicated on the menu are prepared in a timely manner by efficient utilization of offenders. Assist in the preparation of medically ordered diets and special tray preparations. Each meal ensure that all foods, produced, served, and cleaned-up are in compliance with Iowa Medical and Classification Center policies and procedures; dietary services procedures; federal, state and local regulations and continuous quality improvement principles. Deliver hot/cold food transport carts to living units as assigned. Use knowledge of security to ensure a safe environment for offenders, staff and the public by exhibiting a thorough knowledge of fire drills, disaster plans and disturbance control procedures; account for and appropriately lock all controlled items, including knives and utensils; keep doors secured; follow proper key control procedures; be alert to any security problems that might occur in dietary services; implement disciplinary action as disruption activities may dictate; complete daily offender counts; area searches, and complete clothed offender pat searches. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Two years of full-time work experience in mass food production in a commercial, military, hospital, or institutional food services setting.
• A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in dietetics, nutrition, food management or a closely related equals one year of full-time experience.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Cook 1, Cook 2, or Baker.
