Shift: 11am-7pm Monday-Friday
Complete and supervise the completion of food preparation and preparation by utilizing pre-weighed ingredients, recipes and the daily production schedules so that the food indicated on the menu are prepared in a timely manner by efficient utilization of offenders. Assist in the preparation of medically ordered diets and special tray preparations. Each meal ensure that all foods, produced, served, and cleaned-up are in compliance with Iowa Medical and Classification Center policies and procedures, dietary services procedures and Federal, State and local regulations and continuous quality improvement principles. Deliver hot/cold food transport carts to living units as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Use knowledge of security to ensure a safe environment for offenders, staff and the public by exhibiting a thorough knowledge of fire drills, disaster plans and disturbance control procedures Account for and appropriately lock all controlled items, including knives and utensils Keep doors secured; follow proper key control procedures; be alert to any security problems that might occur in Dietary Services Implement disciplinary action as disruption activities may dictate Complete daily offender counts, area searches and complete clothed offender pat searches.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Two years of full-time work experience in mass food production in a commercial, military, hospital, or institutional food services setting.
- A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in dietetics, nutrition, food management or a closely related equals one year of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Cook 1, Cook 2, or Baker.
