Calibration Technician, Test Equipment Services

As a Calibration Technician, Test Equipment Services at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the measurement systems that support our mission-essential aerospace programs. This position is focused specifically on physical and dimensional calibration disciplines, including temperature, torque, pressure, force, mass, and related measurement systems. Working onsite, you'll take ownership of complex calibration and repair activities, ensuring equipment meets stringent aerospace standards and remains fully compliant, traceable, and audit-ready.

In this hands-on technical role, you'll apply strong electronic theory and advanced troubleshooting skills while working from minimal documentation to diagnose, adjust, and restore precision measurement equipment. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and cross-functional partners, contribute to the development of improved calibration processes, and help drive continuous improvement across the lab and supported sites. This role will be performed onsite in our Collins Aerospace location in Cedar Rapids, IA.

What You Will Do:

  • Calibrate and repair test equipment related to physical/dimensional test equipment including temperature, torque, pressure, force, mass, and more
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics
  • Work under minimal supervision and perform a variety of highly complex technical tasks which require a substantial understanding of engineering techniques and all technical objectives
  • Utilize effective communication and provides technical recommendations for capital, expense, and service acquisitions
  • Works from minimal documentation or written or verbal instructions
  • May assist engineers with design and development of new calibration processes
  • Maintains a monthly/weekly workload of calibration and repair
  • Support on-site calibration and repairs as needed at various surrounding sites
  • Work with various electrical, physical, and mechanical test equipment
  • Applies significant electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify electronic products for engineering efforts applicable to the department
  • Performs as member of a technical team utilizing effective communication skills, including interaction with level leadership and customers
  • Actively promotes team decision making

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically required and AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuitry and troubleshooting skills

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with test equipment such as pressure/vacuum gauges, temperature indicators, TCs, scales, torque tools, etc. preferred
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair off prints, or written work instructions
  • Must have good time management skills and work from a weekly/monthly to-do list and be able to re-organize if priorities suddenly shift
