Senior Software Engineer – IoT Data - Remote Eligible

Invert is working to automate the design, execution, and analysis of bioprocesses. Scientists increasingly use bioprocessing to invent new therapies to combat disease, make new biomaterials to solve the environmental crisis, and produce essential chemicals cleanly. What you’ll be doing

As an engineer on the Integrations Engineering Team, you will work on the software that connects the Invert database to data sources. Invert’s data sources include SaaS cloud software, desktop applications, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors attached to bioreactors, and more. This is true “ fuller stack engineering” and involves code that runs on-premise at Invert’s customers, in the cloud, and in the browser.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to daily goals: As a team we balance project work, deep dives into issues and bugs, operational duties, and exploratory work. We allow ourselves to focus by rotating responsibilities and you will be part of this rotation.

• Rapid feature prototyping: Build experiments and proof-of-concepts for new integrations. Translate the learnings from those into technical designs and project plans for long-lasting products and infrastructure components.

• Foundational building blocks: Lead projects that build a technical foundation that accelerates all future integration projects.

• Teaching and Mentoring: Integrations Team members have varied backgrounds from software engineering, bioprocessing, and automation. You are already an expert for much of what we do and you share this wealth through mentoring, code reviewing, writing, presentations, and more.

• Ownership: Share ownership of product quality, reliability, engineering process, customer experience. Think long term and act on behalf of the entire company.

• Security mindset: Build and operate with security best practices in mind.

Preferred qualifications

Please apply if you have prior professional or project experience with three or more of the following :

• Architecting and implementing production systems in Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• Writing concise Python code using modern packages and frameworks.

• Connecting on-premise devices to the cloud, for example with Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, Balena, ThingWorx.

• Streaming data systems, for example with Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Azure Stream Analytics.

• Interfacing with industrial hardware and software, for example historians, OPC-UA servers, PLCs, Modbus and other fieldbus protocols.

• Deploying software on Windows.

• Effective use of logging, tracing, metrics, alerting, dashboards to continuously improve systems.
