Job Description

The Future Forward group within Intuitive Surgical is searching for a project engineer to support development of instruments and accessories for a new robotic surgical platform. As an early member of the team, this role is an exciting opportunity to help define the eventual product from early prototypes through clinical trials and into product launch.

The successful candidate will have enough technical depth to understand mechanical design as well as a passion for project execution, risk management and design control deliverables to get robust products to the market.

Essential job duties include:

  • Plan projects by working with stakeholders to define deliverables, timelines, risks, and mitigations.
  • Execute projects by working with stakeholders to track progress to schedule and adjust plans as necessary
  • Track and maintain inventory of components to support prototype builds
  • Draft and maintain design requirement documents based on product requirements and engineering judgment
  • Draft and maintain design risk documents (e.g. dFMEA) and manage product risks and mitigations
  • Track and maintain department budgets and support annual budget cycle needs

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3 years' experience project management in an engineering organization
  • Experience using CAD, SolidWorks preferred
  • Familiarity with and ability to read engineering drawings
  • Proven ability to work well with others
  • Good documentation skills

Required Education and Training:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
