HVAC Service Technician Opportunity

We have been retained to assist a growing, well established Mechanical Contracting company find a HVAC Service Technician in Columbus, Ohio. This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a solid understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent service to their clients.

Target pay is $30 to $40 per hour but the client is willing to go above $40 per hour for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including RTUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VAV systems, pumps, and controls
• Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections on a scheduled basis
• Troubleshoot system issues using advanced diagnostic tools and methods
• Install or replace HVAC components and systems according to specifications and codes
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and customer interactions
• Communicate clearly with clients, project managers, and team members regarding findings and recommendations
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local, state, and federal codes and company standards
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service requests

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of HVAC trade school or apprenticeship preferred
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC service
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Knowledge of electrical and control systems, as well as mechanical system troubleshooting
• Experience working with BAS/BMS systems (Building Automation Systems) is a plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in tight or high spaces, and perform tasks in varying environmental conditions
