Senior Active Directory Engineer

A large healthcare organization is seeking a remote Senior Active Directory Engineer to support a large-scale Active Directory migration and domain consolidation initiative. This individual will play a key role in preparing and engineering the new AD environment ahead of a major cutover, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy domains into a centralized domain structure. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, configuring, and preparing Active Directory—not onsite execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build Active Directory environments, including OUs (Organizational Units) and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
• Support domain consolidation efforts, replicating and rebuilding legacy domain structures into a centralized domain
• Evaluate existing Group Policies to determine relevance and optimize configuration
• Prepare the environment for migration, including upfront configuration and engineering work prior to cutover
• Partner with teams handling migration execution (SCCM/SSEM scripting) to ensure readiness
• Support endpoint transition strategy, including preparation for ~1,000 device cutover across locations
• Assist with planning and initiating domain transition ("flipping" devices to the new domain)
• Maintain security standards while working within highly privileged access environments
• Collaborate with university staff and leadership stakeholders throughout the project
