Position Overview
The Service Tooling Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, maintaining, inspecting, and tracking Jenbacher special tooling and standard tools from the warehouse to field service sites. This role ensures tooling availability, accuracy of records, calibration compliance, and timely shipment to support field service and outage activities. The Service Tooling Specialist maintains and continuously updates company databases to ensure accurate material data, certifications, conditions, and quantities, while providing overall visibility and management of tooling status across the region.
This position will be onsite daily at our Houston, TX office.
Responsibilities
- Track open tooling and calibration work orders and ensure timely processing
- Coordinate and manage regional tooling budget planning and highlight forecasted needs
- Maintain close collaboration with the Field Service team to identify tooling gaps, improvement opportunities, and development needs
- Proactively assess market and operational needs to identify tooling requirements and close gaps before demand arises
- Maintain accurate inventory of tooling kits and supplies, ensuring correct quantities and readiness for deployment
- Update records for tools that have been calibrated or require calibration
- Track shipments sent to customer sites or field service technicians and coordinate returns for calibration or repair
- Ensure newly purchased tools are properly added to the tooling database
- Coordinate, package, and stage tooling and supplies required for service outages
- Verify kits prior to shipment to ensure completeness, inclusion of templates, and calibration certificates
- Issue purchase orders for replacement parts as inventory levels are depleted
- Maintain warranty records and coordinate with manufacturers or vendors to replace warranty-covered parts
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of tooling kits with service managers to ensure on-time delivery
- Perform visual inspections of returned tooling kits and replace missing or worn components as required
- Follow and update field service tooling procedures to ensure ongoing compliance
- Submit billing and reporting documentation as required
- Maintain warehouse housekeeping standards in compliance with EHS requirements
- Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts and other material-handling equipment, to safely move, stage, load, and unload tooling kits, parts, and supplies
- Ensure customer-requested delivery dates are met or exceeded for tooling kits
- Assist with training and mentoring of new service tooling specialist as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing specialized tools and tool kits, including calibration, inspection, inventory tracking, and shipment to field service or maintenance teams
- Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals and specifications
- Experience operating forklifts or similar material-handling equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, & Outlook
- Willingness to travel as business demands
- English / Spanish proficiency desired, not required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience working with tools, tooling centers, or calibration processes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams and external customers
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, including effective coordination with cross-functional teams
- Ability to operate a forklift and/or other material-handling equipment
- Ability to work in both warehouse and office environments, including navigating workshops, service areas, and equipment as needed
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and squatting, with the capability to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
