Technical Support Specialist
Trane Supply is seeking a knowledgeable and service-oriented Technical Support Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for experienced HVAC service technicians or professionals with an HVAC background who are looking to transition into a technical support position.
As a key member of our support team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth by providing technical support and solutions for Trane Supply stores and customers. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, assist in identifying OEM replacement parts, and ensure that product documentation remains accurate and up to date. You will serve as a vital link between Trane Supply Stores and engineering offering both pre-sale and post-sale technical assistance. This role requires analytical, business, and technical skills to assess each request to determine what actions need to be taken. Work is performed in an engineering environment using computer tools and product knowledge. Due to the wide variety of systems and item setup configurations, the Technical Support Specialist must demonstrate great versatility, adaptability, and organizational skills. It requires individuals to work independently to make strategic decisions in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pre-sale support to Trane Supply stores and external customers by answering questions and identifying appropriate parts and equipment solutions.
- Offer technical support (post-sale) for purchased parts and Trane equipment, helping resolve product issues and answering complex field service inquiries.
- Provide support and answer technical questions for Residential splits up to 5 tons, ductless and ducted systems, Light commercial units up to 25 tons capacity - Rooftops, Splits, Water Source Heat pumps
- Interpret and respond to Field Quality Alerts, participate in escape teams, and generate confidential and general service alerts and bulletins.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional teams supporting design changes, new product development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct field and training sessions to support equipment service and parts identification.
- Create and maintain product documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely updates across all HVAC product lines.
- Analyze business and design changes and determine necessary actions to keep documentation current.
- Collaborate with internal teams across multiple facilities, time zones, and global regions to support strategic projects.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for multiple HVAC product lines within the Trane Technologies portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a technical field or 5+ years of relevant experience in HVAC or a related industry required.
- Practical experience as an HVAC service technician or relevant HVAC training background strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with business systems such as Oracle 12, Windchill, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Understanding of engineering design and HVAC systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; able to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
