Global Regulatory Science Operations Team Leader

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Regulatory Sciences as a Global Regulatory Science Operations Team Leader. The RS OPs Team Lead will manage a global Operations team, with currently over 30 full-time and contingent employees located in Johnston, IA; Indianapolis, IN, the Haskell R&D Center in Delaware, and in Hyderabad, India. This team provides operational support to Regulatory Sciences by providing centralized services, optimizing and executing processes, and maintaining tools that support Regulatory Sciences. The RS OPs Team Lead will serve on the Regulatory Sciences Leadership Team and will identify areas to harmonize processes and tools used across sites, across Regulatory Sciences sub-teams, and across technology-types (Biotechnology, Crop Protection, Biologicals) for increased efficiency and organizational resiliency. The RS OPs Team Lead will collaborate closely with stakeholders within Regulatory Sciences and across Regulatory and Stewardship.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement, assess, optimize, and improve processes and tools used across Regulatory Sciences sites and teams. Examples include processes related to: Scientific writing, Data quality control, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and document management, Electronic Data capture, redaction, literature support.
  • Technical team support, including study monitoring, data mining, literature review, technical tool development and data entry, etc.
  • Planning, prioritization of work, and maintenance of master schedule.
  • Capital budget planning and prioritization across Regulatory Sciences teams.
  • Strategic Leadership to develop and maintain processes and tools for maximized efficiency across Regulatory Sciences.
  • Understand long-term Regulatory Sciences strategy and build capacity and competencies within RS OPs team to meet evolving needs in Regulatory Sciences. Develop a 5-year strategic plan with 1-year and 3-year milestones to establish the growth and expansion vision for RS OPs team.
  • Understand the potential for artificial intelligence (AI)-supported solutions to eliminate, compliment, or change current and future tools, processes. Provide strong strategic leadership to assess priorities, test capabilities, and partner with developers.
  • Build long term strategy for Dossier coordination, including manual, automated, and AI-supported solutions for dossier drafting and submission support. Oversight and leadership is required to develop processes, train project leaders, and ensure quality dossier delivery for several EU and OECD dossiers over the next year, as new solutions are being investigated.
  • People Leadership to enable development and growth of RS OPs team members and Regulatory Sciences employees, through coaching, mentoring, and engagement on relevant People Success Teams (PST). Partner effectively with key stakeholders and customers to collect voice of customer, assess feedback, and develop and implement training. Strong people management skills are needed to not only lead team, but also to lead others without authority.

What Skills You Need:

  • B.S degree (degree in chemistry, biochemistry, agriculture, or biological science is required; industry experience is preferred). Other degrees may be considered if proficiency in critical skills is demonstrated.
  • Experience leading people, preferably with proven track-record of success leading cross-functional, global teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, which includes ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work on several projects simultaneously, efficiently, and independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to manage without authority and resolve conflict.
  • A good understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is required.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other project management tools.
