Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Industrial Service Utility/Assembler to join its Pump Service Team. The Service Utility/Assembler-1st shift is responsible for all activities as it relates to the diagnosis, disassembly, inspection, testing and modification of pumps, pumping equipment and accessories while adhering to corporate standards and departmental goals and objectives. Position reports to, and will take functional direction from, the Area Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (primarily Mon-Fri, 6:00a-2:30p).

The base compensation range for this position is $43285-57352. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate's profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless's total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, inspect and repair all pumps (including competitor pumps); Service pumps and pumping equipment in the field. Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, etc. to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Analyze, recommend and suggest diagnosis per departmental documentation. Set up, prepare and help perform hydrostatic tests and record results. Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.). Perform set-up, performance test, and tear down of pumps / systems. Move material / inventory as needed.
This role requires the ability to have good oral and written communication, provide improvement suggestions, ability to work alone as well with teams and a desire to learn.
Working conditions: This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; push, pull, lift, twist and reach when assembling parts. Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision. Lifting pumps and/or boxes up to 50 lbs. Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory or field environment.
We imagine you have: High School diploma, GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent *required Combination of training, education and experience in a similar position in a related field *preferred 1 year experience in a similar position *preferred Pump systems experience *plus/much preferred Vocational Training in electrical, welding, precision measuring instruments, blueprints, or equivalent *plus/much preferred Valid Driver's license Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing sophisticated or precision mechanical systems are strongly encouraged to apply. *much preferred Competencies: Knowledge products, applications, troubleshooting and diagnosis of pumps and pumping equipment; Strong customer service skills for service in the field. Use of tools (e.g. power and pneumatic, electronic engraver, power saw, cutoff wheel, grinders, hydraulic press, arbor press, acetylene cutting equipment, etc.) Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers. Material handling equipment (Lift truck, two wheeled truck, carts, etc.); Cranes, hoist, screw jacks, hydraulic jacks (to 20 tons) Proficient in use of computers (SAP, Windows, Shop Tech) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, Ability to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; push, pull, lift, twist and reach when assembling parts. Able to be respirator certified This position may include "on call" hours due to the requirements needed by customers Ability to communicate effectively, verbally in the English language to understand and use written or verbal control and work instructions, Ability to analyze and problem solve to resolve various technical and interpersonal issues with collaboration, respect and professionalism.
