Civil Construction Project Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Engineer to join our team, providing essential support in coordinating between Inspector Resident Project Representatives (RPRs), and Project Managers. The role includes overseeing inspection staff, ensuring project time, cost management, documentation, communication, risk management, and quality assurance. The engineer will also act as a RPR on projects when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspection as needed.
  • Fill in for inspectors (RPRs) on job sites when RPRs are not available.
  • Facilitate and conduct regularly scheduled construction meetings.
  • Coordinate with contractors to schedule inspection activities and help resolve design and field issues.
  • Assist with project management for technical and cost efforts to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Oversee validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify their conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for construction procedures and safe working conditions.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional experience working on Civil Projects including wet utilities, treatment plants, water lines, and sewer lines.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plan sets, project drawings, contracts, and project specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel with the ability to prepare professional documents.
  • Ability to analyze project costs with an understanding of bidding, estimating, and project risk assessment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task and carry out projects with tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with federally-funded infrastructure is a plus.
  • Experience with Procore software is a plus.
  • Previous Construction Inspection Experience.
  • Ability to run professional meetings.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.

Work Environment:

The engineer will work both in the office and out in the field, primarily in Central Indiana, with occasional travel across the state. The role requires reliable transportation, as travel expenses will be reimbursed at the federal reimbursement rate. The Construction Department consists of 28 employees, fostering a collaborative environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $35.15 - $43.67/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
