Our services are designed to align and motivate the workforce with strategy, productivity, and streamline HR operations, ultimately leading to improved efficiency and cost savings.

Your key responsibilities as a Tax Technical Staff within the Rewards practice will include:

  • Developing relevant and flexible tax-compliant compensation, benefit and incentive approaches for clients.
  • Advising clients on regulatory matters and the taxation of compensation and benefit programs, including U.S. and global programs.
  • Benchmarking and designing executive and broad-based compensation and benefit arrangements.
  • Supporting clients in complex transactions (mergers, acquisitions and divestitures), including:
    • Conducting financial due diligence on HR, compensation and benefit programs.
    • Identifying tax, financial, and regulatory risks related to compensation and benefits and a target company's broader HR function.
    • Performing golden parachute/Section 280G calculations in connection with transactions.
    • Advising on the tax and financial implications and executive compensation broad-based arrangements, including drafting technical memorandums and opinions addressing various Internal Revenue Code Sections, including, but not limited to, 83, 162(m), 280G, and 409A.
    • Providing support to EY's Tax, Assurance and Consulting functions as compensation and benefits subject matter resource.

Skills and attributes for success include:

  • Progress toward a Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Membership or anticipated membership in a US state bar.
  • A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business or Industrial Relations; supported by a strong academic record.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong quantitative acumen, including outstanding analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $97,000 to $122,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
