Learn from our experienced professionals, cutting-edge technology, and proven methodologies to effectively manage our clients' indirect tax posture.

As a Sales and Use Tax Intern, we'll look to you to build and apply your knowledge to a wide range of tax areas and processes, participating in strategic outcomes to some very complex issues. In return, you can expect the support of some of the most engaging colleagues around, as well as plenty of opportunities to progress your career. It's fair to say there's no average day for a Sales and Use Tax Intern – so you're likely to spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks. To make that happen, you'll be working in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is an essential part of the role.

As an Intern on our team, your role will include:

  • Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights
  • Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clients
  • Learning and researching current market trends, to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor
  • Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients' tax activities
  • Researching our clients' business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needs
  • Participating on a motivated team of professionals

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, International Business, or a related field.
  • A strong academic record including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position.
  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in basic MS Office tools, and strong writing skills, with business fluency in the English language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proficiency in a technology-enabled environment.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

At EY, we'll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences. We'll empower you in a flexible environment, and fuel you and your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams. Learn more.
