Job Announcement: Supervisor of Children's Services Program

Under general supervision, the class supervises a functional area within the Children Services Division of the Department of Family and Support Services and performs related duties as required.

Essential duties include coordinating advisory and parent participation committees, assigning and reviewing the work of staff, overseeing administration functions, supervising assigned teams, implementing work standards, evaluating staff performance, developing recommendations for program improvement, supervising the preparation of program auditing and community assessment reports, implementing systems to evaluate the effectiveness of monitoring systems, managing the staffing process, monitoring and analyzing data, coordinating partnerships with the community, recommending the continued funding of agencies, supervising training and technical assistance, supervising application and eligibility review, preparing reports on program activities, serving as liaison to the community, and providing program information for inclusion in grant applications.

Location: Department of Family and Support Services Central Office - Fiscal Address: 1615 West Chicago Avenue Shift: Monday – Friday Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm

This position is in the Career Service.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, the Social Sciences, or a directly related field plus three years of work experience in education or social service or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience provided the minimum degree requirement is met. A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.

Selection Criteria:

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview will be selected. Preference will be given to candidates possessing previous experience working in social, community educational development work, previous experience supervising staff, previous experience involving the analysis of issues and trends in Early Childhood Education, developmental, cultural and economic issues that impact young children, previous experience planning and management of Early Childhood development programs and services for ages zero to five, and previous experience providing technical assistance to Head Start and Child Care delegate agencies.
