The Advanced Fluid Dynamics team is dedicated to developing and scaling innovative fluid systems technologies across industries such as mining, construction, energy, and transportation. This team focuses on advancing the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of fluid power and thermal systems to meet evolving customer and regulatory demands. The team's responsibilities include the development and integration of cutting-edge solutions in combustion, cooling systems, and fluid flow simulation. Their work addresses critical customer challenges such as energy efficiency, emissions reduction, system reliability, thermal management, and performance optimization.
The Senior Engineering Project Team Leader will have responsibility for leading project teams in New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement, and cost reduction projects to address business challenges and opportunities in areas of engines, drivetrain, hydraulics, machines, Caterpillar Oil & Gas / Marine Division (COGMD) and site level. Areas of focus include advanced fluid dynamics (3D CFD and 1D). This position provides strategy support to various business units in the field of advanced fluid dynamics.
Responsibilities include developing project scope for addressing business challenges and opportunities in advanced fluid dynamics (3D CFD and 1D) space related to COGMD, Machines and Site level simulation. Identify gaps and opportunities for improving existing simulation process through NTI and other funding mechanisms. Coordinating resources across US and India Virtual Product Development teams as well as SOW, responsible providing coaching, training, motivation, and technical guidance. Overseeing project progress and budgets; communicating status with stakeholders, team members, design teams and participating in functional areas; addressing and resolving problems. Participating in design reviews and providing simulation solutions to design issues.
Degree requirements include a degree in mechanical, aerospace, and automotive engineering. Top candidates will also have an M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with specialization in fluid dynamics. Extensive (15+ years of) experience using CFD or thermal analysis or 1D simulations to solve engineering problems for industry. Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills. Self-starter with strong technical and analytical skills. Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills.

Summary pay range: $144,960.00 - $217,320.00. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
