What you will be doing:

The Director of Corporate Functions Technology will be responsible for leading the engineering team in the development and implementation of innovative solutions for Finance, HR, Legal, Regulatory & Control, Fraud, Infosec etc. This role will focus on enhancing organizational productivity and operational excellence by embedding compliance, innovation, and best practices across internal platforms and processes. The Software Engineering Director will drive the delivery of secure, seamless, and human-centered digital experiences for CIBC employees by aligning technology initiatives with strategic business objectives, championing DevSecOps, Automation, and AI Adoption. This role is accountable for designing and implementing strategic cloud platforms and application frameworks, overseeing the full software development lifecycle—including development, testing, and deployment of API, UI, and data solutions—and ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.

How you will succeed:

Leadership and Team Management

Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team focused on Corporate Functions technologies. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous improvement and professional development.

Finance, HR, Legal, Fraud Modernization

Drive the strategy in alignment with Enterprise and execute modernization initiatives to enhance Corporate Function systems, while maintaining legacy where necessary. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Enterprise to build and execute on roadmap.

Vendor Platform Experience

Leverage experience with vendor platforms such as SAP, FIS, Fiserv, Finastra, and other fintech providers to enhance service offerings. Evaluate and select technology partners to support the organization's Finance, Legal, HR, Fraud strategy.

Production Support Management

Manage the production support team for vendor applications within the Corporate Functions landscape, ensuring high availability and performance of systems. Develop and implement processes for incident management, problem resolution, and system monitoring.

Who you are:

You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp with a minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a focus on Finance, Legal, HR, Fraud, Infosec systems. Masters degree preferred.

You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex technology projects. You have proven expertise in implementing large-scale Agile and Scrum ban frameworks, emphasizing iterative development cycles and a commitment to ongoing process enhancement. You have exhibited strong leadership in driving organizational DevSecOps and automation transformations, leveraging GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Copilot to significantly boost developer productivity and streamline operational processes. You have demonstrated expertise in leading AI integration efforts, facilitating advanced data insights and enabling predictive analytics for informed decision-making.

You ensure comprehensive compliance with all relevant regulations within their area of responsibility; manage relationships with Compliance and Audit teams; oversee compliance adherence and reporting within their area. You are an SME in understanding of banking products, services, and industry regulations; thorough understanding of current and emerging industry trends and developments; ability to shape departmental strategies using industry knowledge. You oversee risk management frameworks, influence risk culture, and align risk management with strategic objectives.

You give meaning to Data: You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way, proficiency in the Data technology stack, including ETL, Azure SQL and REST APIs. You have a strong understanding of SAP, Power BI, and you have experience with API development and integration using Microsoft Technology stack - Azure, SQL, .NET. Microsoft API Management or MuleSoft experience will be a plus. You have deep knowledge and experience in implementing workflow solutions for optimizing Finance, Legal, HR, Fraud etc.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $190,000.00 - $210,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
