Service Technician Position

Wegener Welding has been an importer and distributor for several European equipment/machine manufacturers since 1982. If you are looking to build a long-term career with a specialized company that is small, casual, but professional you would probably be a great fit for our team. We are currently seeking a Service Technician to join our small team in the Chicagoland vicinity. The service team is responsible for in-house repairs of plastic welding equipment as well as on-site installations and phone support for our customers throughout North America. Although the Service Technician position is intended to primarily be shop based, occasional travel may be necessary.

Primary Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair handheld welding and testing equipment
• Provide customer technical support via phone and/or email
• Process work orders, enter data into software, and email repair estimates to customers
• Complete supplier warranty claim paperwork
• Testing and assembling new equipment
• Training customers on diagnosis and repair procedures
• Provide assistance with training seminars and customer specific training as needed
• Serve as back-up for shipping and receiving
• Organize, clean, maintain workshop for optimal production flow
• Understand and use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Technical training or some college preferred
• Good mechanical capability and general understanding of electronic components
• Use of shop hand tools, power tools, and gauges
• Basic computer skills, good written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

The Service Technician position is non-supervisory, requiring no managerial responsibilities. Our service technicians report to and receive instruction from Liz Turner.
