Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator responsible for the setup and operation of high-speed printing press machinery. The role focuses on implementing time-saving practices to minimize downtime and setup times while ensuring high-quality products are delivered to our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Setup and operate a high-speed printing press machine efficiently.
• Practice urgency in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
• Minimize scrap waste and ensure proper tagging for waste reporting.
• Collect top and bottom sheets (dunnage) to expedite the converting process.
• Adhere to lock out/tag out procedures and ensure accurate completion of production paperwork.
• Mount die boards, assist in machine setup, and maintain machine operation.
• Read and understand production orders, ensuring quality with basic corrugated terminology.
• Understand mechanical functionality of machinery and conduct in-depth cleaning as scheduled.

Essential Skills:

• Minimum of 2 years high-speed machine operating experience.
• Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler, and proficiency in basic shop math.
• Comfortable working in a high-speed packaging environment.
• Capability to lift up to 60 lbs. consistently throughout the day.
• Sense of urgency without compromising attention to detail and quality.

Work Environment:

This expansive 550,000 square-foot facility is equipped with 26 dock doors and state-of-the-art technology valued over $30 million. Though not climate controlled, the facility is well-ventilated. Employees must wear steel-toed shoes, safety vests, glasses, and ear protection. Be prepared for extensive walking in this spacious environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
