Laboratory Operations Technician

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Laboratory Operations Technician to support the daily operations of our laboratory. This is a full-time onsite position, Monday through Friday, based at our Northbrook laboratory. The role involves procurement coordination, vendor management, basic equipment troubleshooting and repair, and collaboration with internal departments to ensure smooth lab functionality.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate procurement of lab materials, supplies, equipment, and services based on user requests.
• Manage vendor relationships and accounts, ensuring timely delivery and service quality.
• Collaborate with Finance (Sourcing, Payables, etc.) to ensure accurate processing of purchases and invoices.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and capital expenditure plans for laboratory equipment.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on electrical and mechanical lab equipment.
• Maintain inventory and ensure proper documentation of lab assets and tools.
• Operate Oracle or equivalent systems to input and extract relevant data.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the lab environment.
• Ensure compliance with UL Standards of Business Conduct and all physical/digital security protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support lab operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repairing lab or technical equipment.
• Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor management.
• Proficiency in using enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Total Rewards:

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $51,600 and $68,700 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
