Field Service Technician Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer of electromechanical fare boxes used in public transportation, is seeking a Field Service Technician to support both in-house and field operations. Key responsibilities include performing testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of fare boxes at the component and board level, using diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify and resolve issues, and reporting directly to the Field Service Supervisor. Additionally, the role involves traveling nationally to perform repairs and installations on buses and trains, commissioning new units, and ensuring proper functionality in real-world environments.

Qualifications include 1–3 years of experience in electromechanical or field service roles, or a technical college degree. Soldering experience and board-level circuit analysis and repair are required, along with the ability to read and interpret electrical and PCB blueprints. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires comfort in client-facing situations.

Travel and work details include 25% travel initially, which can increase to 50% post-training. Travel may begin within the first month of contract-to-hire, with potential weekend travel required. Work environments vary (indoor/outdoor). Work hours range from 6–10 PM on weekdays and 5–6 PM on weekends. Installation projects may last 1–7 days. All tools and travel expenses are covered by the client. Per diem: $55–$65/day. Compensation begins 2 hours before flight departure; return pay depends on work schedule. Overtime rates: 2x pay on Sundays, 1.5x pay on Saturdays. Pay range for this position is $23.50–$25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
