Engineer II

We're seeking a proactive and driven Engineer II to support mature military programs focused on primary electric power generation. Based in Rockford, Illinois, this role empowers you to take the lead in critical engineering efforts while collaborating with cross-functional teams, management, and customers. What you will do:

  • Support manufacturing facilities with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations related to test rejects and production returns.
  • Assist repair facilities with RCCA efforts for field returns.
  • Perform validation testing of defined corrective actions to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Drive implementation of corrective actions into production and repair processes.
  • Communicate technical findings and program updates related to production and field issues to internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Successfully managed multiple concurrent engineering tasks in a high-tempo environment, meeting established deadlines and project milestones through effective planning and prioritization.
  • Applied root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies to support both production and field return investigations, resulting in implemented and validated corrective actions aligned with quality and reliability standards.
  • Accurately documented technical findings, tracked implementation of corrective actions, and ensured alignment with internal procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Delivered clear, concise technical presentations and root cause summaries to cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers, effectively communicating findings across varying levels of technical expertise, teams, suppliers, and customers at varying levels of technical expertise.

The salary range for this role is $66,000 - $130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
