What You'll Do (Essential Responsibilities):

Skills Developed:

  • Substation Systems Expertise: Master the engineering of protection, control, physical, and auxiliary systems.
  • Strategic Project Leadership: Coordinate complex projects, analyze critical variables based on real world scenarios, and make impactful decisions that drive project success.
  • Practical Technical Acumen: Gain hands-on expertise in identifying, sizing, and integrating essential equipment.
  • Team & Project Management: Build leadership skills by learning to effectively manage projects and inspire teams to achieve shared goals.

What You'll Bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or undergraduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, or Power Automation/Control.
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

Other Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Desired Qualifications):

  • Prior internships, co/op or research experience in the industry.
  • Demonstrated an analytic approach to problem solving, have demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement, and a passion for power systems.
  • Candidates that have interests in the following areas: power electronics, power systems, and controls.
  • Desired candidates have geographic flexibility and must be willing to relocate to Oakbrook Terrace IL (near Chicago).
  • GPA with 3.4+ with a few power system related courses.

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $36.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed. This position is also eligible for:

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern's permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
  • Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans.
