Director Of Nursing Services
The Director Of Nursing Services oversees the provision of medical and dental services provided to individuals served residentially by Little City and manages the partnership with outside medical service providers. The responsibilities of the position include the overall day to day operations of Little City's Nurse Educators, facilitation of strategic health partnerships and forecasting of emerging health/wellness trends for the residential clients at Little City.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership for strategy, mission and vision for the health and wellness of the residential clients at Little City.
- Ensuring the agency's compliance with DHS Rule 116 and the delegation of essential tasks to appropriate staff.
- Routinely auditing the department in relation to Rule 116 standards.
- Communicating directly with residents, families, medical staff, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members and department leadership to coordinate care and services.
- Actively leading the survey process and directing timely collection of information required by the survey team.
- Managing current health/dental partnerships/consultants and researching potential future health and wellness partnerships.
- Developing, maintaining and implementing nursing policies and procedures that reflect current standards of nursing practice and agency philosophy of care.
- Directing the work flow of the Nurse Educators by managing the hiring, training and supervision of departmental staff.
- Ensuring 24-hour availability as nursing administration resource.
- Setting performance expectations and evaluating performance results of staff.
- Directing the process of developing, implementing and reporting of quality measurement/evaluations of medication services.
- Collaborating with the agency's grants program to research, apply for, track and monitor opportunities for health and wellness grants and initiatives.
- Keeping abreast of current research and trends in health and wellness services in relation to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- Trend disease cycles and collaborate with program leadership to develop action plans to address.
- Coordinating public health education, communication and response in the instance of a public health crisis.
- Promoting positive interactions and maintaining approachability, strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Protecting the confidentiality of people served by the agency per HIPPA and Mental Health Code Standards.
- Successfully completing Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a valid license from the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse, a BSN, and minimum 3 years supervisory experience. Prior experience with the developmentally delayed population is preferred. DHS Nurse Trainer preferred; otherwise must register and pass the class to become a DHS RN Trainer within 60 days of employment. Experience in formulating policies and procedures. Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources appropriately. Knowledge of the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.
Physical requirements and work environment include sitting for prolonged periods, frequent walking, standing, grasping, lifting, holding, or feeling objects; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Extended use of computer and typing is required. The employee is subject to assist and support up to 20 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis.
