Director Of Maintenance Support And Engineering

We are currently seeking a Director of Maintenance Support and Engineering to provide technical expertise and direction for technical support throughout the entire Transdev organization with emphasis on Maintenance. Strives to improve technical knowledge, skills, and personal growth within the organization. Ensures compliance with Federal and State motor vehicle safety regulations/OSHA/EPA/and company directives and processes.

  • Annual Salary Range: $136,000-$170,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Transit and Fleet Services locations with technical and OEM vehicle support.
  • Has supervisory responsibility for Thermal and SVIR internal investigations.
  • Applies engineering problem solving techniques and works with vehicle OEM's and Tier 1 OEM suppliers to understand root cause of high-volume vehicle component/systems failures.
  • Evaluates new vehicle technology for suitability and inclusion into the fleet.
  • Has the ability to convey complex technical issues Internally and Externally in a concise manner.
  • Works with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or other governing bodies to understand and implement recalls and/or field campaigns related to motor vehicle safety.
  • Assists in creating and rolling out corporate SOP and policies.
  • Coordinates with all Transdev Maintenance managers to understand developmental and training needs of all maintenance team members.
  • Assists Regional Maintenance Managers to ensure all maintenance team members are properly trained on vehicles and components within our fleet to include all necessary OE-provided training troubleshooting software.
  • Develops and implements, in conjunction with the RMM's, corporate wide vehicle maintenance training program curriculum.
  • Experience with Zero Emission / Alternative fuels vehicle maintenance policy and procedures.
  • Experience with Field Service/Technical Support.
  • Experience with High Voltage Vehicle Safety Standards.
  • Experience working with motor vehicle OEM's and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Develops and implements, in conjunction with the RMM's, technician development plans for Transdev locations at Tech level that ensure continuous improvement and progression to the next available skill level based on ASE certification programs.
  • Works with RMM's and Transdev locations to develop Apprenticeship programs.
  • Directs and supports regional training centers.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Technical skills related to Transit, Motor Coach and Paratransit type buses.
  • Presentation skills that can engage the team in learning.
  • Four (4) year engineering degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Battery Electric Vehicle site assessment and EVSE, battery capacity, and range calculation experience.
  • Alternative Fuel deployment experience.
  • The ability to work with diagnostic equipment including OEM type computerized programs such as INSITE, WTEC, Wabco.
  • In-Depth understanding of regulations affecting mechanics and maintenance operations.
  • Ability to be autonomous and self-directed.
  • Ability to research and identify resources for complex issues.
  • Necessary math abilities to analyze and track maintenance information.
  • Knowledge of the warranty process.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Approximately 20% of the work is performed outdoors.
  • This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Work in locations with various internal and external conditions.
  • Travel approximately 70%.
  • Must be able to lift seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, bending, and handling materials.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to heat/cold conditions.
