Pump Design Engineer

Collins Aerospace pump design engineers are responsible for design and analysis of a variety of fuel and oil pumps, including centrifugal, axial piston, vane, and gear pumps. Pump design engineers are responsible for completing new product development design and analysis tasks for pump programs, including driving development activities, while ensuring all technical and regulatory requirements are met. Pump design engineers may be the cognizant engineers responsible for root cause investigations and sustaining activities for fielded products.

What You Will Do

Candidate will support the design and analysis of a variety of fuel and oil pumps, including centrifugal, axial piston, vane, and external gear pumps. Responsible for completing design and analysis tasks for one or more pump programs, including driving development activities, while ensuring all technical and regulatory requirements are met. Support product root cause investigations, as design engineering plays a key role in solving any product issues during the development process. This also includes evaluating empirical data to validate design tools and reconcile pump design/analysis results with test data.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience. Experience in an engineering role, working with rotating components, fluids, or aerospace components.

Qualifications We Prefer

Aerospace industry experience. MATLAB modeling and programming experience. CFD analysis experience in ANSYS Fluent or STAR-CCM+. Prior Aerospace Industry/ Pump Design experience. Centrifugal and axial piston pump experience. Aircraft system knowledge, particularly fuel and oil systems. Familiarity with industry design, test and certification standards for aerospace pumping systems. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals. Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks. The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
