Job Description

To provide consultation and technical support to management and staff in resolving problems with computer systems, services, and equipment; perform related work. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for maintaining classroom audiovisual (AV) technologies by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration. They provide customer service and support for users of classroom technology. The position tests, implements, and provides input on classroom technology solutions in coordination with university partners and external vendors. The focus on supporting and maintaining classroom IT and AV infrastructure, ensuring a seamless teaching and learning experience. This role involves troubleshooting, training, and system administration to optimize classroom technology.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware and Software Setup & Maintenance:
Set up, install, and maintain hardware and software for Administration, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors (via TigerGuest and VideoConnection).
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to ISU-owned equipment.
Manage equipment moves, setup, and configuration.

Software Installation & Configuration:
Install software, configure computers (both Windows and Apple devices), and add devices to the domain or lab admin tools.
Run necessary system updates.

Technology Inventory & Recycling/Surplus:
Maintain accurate records of technology inventory.
Assist with equipment recycling and surplus processes.

Ticketing & Knowledge Base:
Create and update TigerTracks tickets.
Develop and update user-friendly Knowledge Base articles to help resolve common issues.

Video Conferencing Systems:
Configure and maintain video conferencing tools (e.g., TMS Scheduling, Codec settings, Zoom, ResSched).
Support for hybrid classrooms, lecture capture, and integrated solutions with the LMS.
Manage camera settings, including trigger initialization and shot adjustments.
Monitor and adjust microphone/audio settings, including DSP adjustments.

Technical Support & Training:
Provide real-time support and training for educators and students.
Ensure accessibility for all learners.

System Administration:
Configure controller and touch panel settings.
Ensure proper communication between displays and control systems.
Troubleshoot system issues to maintain network stability.

Technology Evaluation & Recommendations:
Evaluate the effectiveness of digital tools using usage analytics and feedback.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend upgrades to improve the learning experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of:
Computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology.
Computer hardware and software installation, and troubleshooting.

  • Installing, upgrading, and maintaining one or more computer networks including computers, server hardware and software.
  • Working with network protocols such as IP address schemas, DNS, DHCP, and directory services.
  • Evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems.
  • Independently evaluating and defining customer/system needs and recommending and implementing new IT solutions.
  • Recommending the installation and use of applications and system software.

Additional Information

ISU minimum for this classification is between $26.33/hour.
