Technical Records Specialist 1
The Idaho Division of Veterans Services is recruiting for a full-time Technical Records Specialist 1 position at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello. The employee in this position works full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The ideal candidate must have the ability to adapt easily to change, ensure quality work, and be able to maintain confidentiality. In this position an employee will analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile invoices and other financial documents; ensure compliance with laws, rules, and policies; perform related work. The employee will work with staff, insurance companies, and residents verifying benefits, filling out authorization forms, and keeping records current. Incumbents may also deal with public officials, business representatives, and/or the general public to identify and resolve non-routine issues.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for specific financial duties such as accounts payable, budget, journals, etc.
- Identify and correct errors and discrepancies.
- Maintain logs, ledgers, journals, work/spread sheets, and other financial documents.
- Perform professional calls to insurance companies, other staff, and residents' families.
- Operate the main switchboard to answer incoming calls and questions with accuracy and friendliness.
- Greet residents, visitors, and address walk-in traffic.
- Distribute mail to appropriate departments and residents.
- Monitor cash box.
- Reconcile resident accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Review, complete, and process financial documents and ensure their compliance with laws, regulations, and policies for approval or recommended approval.
- Experience using computer systems to retrieve, enter, and edit financial data.
- Work with business representatives, and/or the general public to identify and resolve non-routine issues involving laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
- Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
- Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
- Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
Minimum Qualification Specialties:
- Some knowledge of: Medical terminology and the general benefits of Medicaid, Medicare, and major insurance companies.
- Financial record keeping; bookkeeping practices; payroll methods.
Experience:
- Using spreadsheet software; storing, retrieving, and compiling information in a report format using data base software.
- Working with sensitive or restricted data.
- Using MS Excel and MS Access software.
