If this sounds like a good fit for you, come join the Child and Family Services team as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) Family Services Worker (unlicensed PSR), Child Welfare Social Worker 1 (licensed Social Worker in Idaho) or Child Welfare Social Worker 2 (licensed Social Worker in Idaho & Master's degree or 2 years of experience working in Child Welfare) in our Division of Child, Youth & Family Services, in our Caldwell Office.

This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time. IMPORTANT: Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy in order to learn Idaho child welfare practices and standards and complete Child Welfare Academy assignments. During the probationary period, incumbents carry a reduced child welfare caseload under the guidance of child welfare supervisors or designated experienced child welfare social workers to gain knowledge and expertise necessary to provide professional child welfare services to children and families who are subjects of child abuse or neglect. Some travel will be required. You must be licensed as a social worker in Idaho to be considered for the Child Welfare 1 or 2 position. Or if you are not interested in being licensed you may consider the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist position.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist $25.51/hour

Child Welfare Social Worker 1's working in Case Management/Safety Assessor $27.30/hour

Child Welfare Social Worker 2's working in Case Management/Safety Assessor $30.96/hour

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Assess and process referrals for child abuse or neglect
  • Conduct assessment and fact-finding interviews
  • Design, organize, implement, and monitor effectiveness of case plans
  • Facilitate client access to support services
  • Complete need and risk assessments on cases
  • Develop appropriate safety plans for children
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team staffing
  • Prepare case record notes
  • Prepare court reports, affidavits, testimony, etc.
  • Determine appropriate client placement
  • Provide emergency, crisis intervention, and after-hours on-call service
  • Client counseling, social services, support, and change-oriented activities
  • Design and apply varying treatment modalities for problem resolution

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION SPECIALIST:

  • Good knowledge of human services principles and practices
  • Computer literacy for data entry
  • Valid driver's license

CHILD WELFARE SOCIAL WORKER 1 (CWSW1) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Licensure as a Social Worker in Idaho
  • Valid driver's license

CHILD WELFARE SOCIAL WORKER 2 (CWSW2) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensure as a Social Worker in Idaho
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful completion of Idaho Welfare Academy sessions and assignments
  • Two years' experience in a public child welfare system or child welfare agency
  • Master of Social Work degree
