Senior Project Engineer

SP Energy Networks (SPEN) are working to achieve network targets set by the Scottish and UK Government as part of our journey to Net Zero. As a Project Engineer (Delivery), you will be responsible for delivering the safe provision of Operations, Fault Response & Maintenance Programmes, Capital Investment Projects or Customer Connections and Diversions Projects with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network.

This position has up to 5 direct reports that include Project Engineers and Project Co-Ordinators.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering the district ED2 business plan.
  • Effectively managing projects, contracts and operational engineering with safety documentation (including plant and protection commissioning).
  • Providing excellent customer service by organising robust communication activities to enable the delivery of project plans affecting local communities, customers, and stakeholders with minimal disruption and achieve outstanding customer feedback scores.
  • Promoting an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety rules, instructions, procedures, and legislation are implemented and delivered through all activities.
  • Developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours amongst the team through the mentoring and coaching of developing colleagues.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely capture and recording of data and the project closure processes within corporate systems including financial assurance.
  • Leading the integration of Operational Excellence principles in all undertakings.

What you'll bring:

  • Project/programme management experience, including demonstratable experience of driving and delivering projects including expert knowledge of CDM regulations and their application in project management.
  • Expert knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms and key business drivers in which SP Energy Networks operates General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to achieve effective and efficient customer service and project deliver.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.
  • Sufficient technical and/or operational experience as demonstrated by substantial experience in a relevant engineering role within an electrical networks business.
  • Currently, or previously, Senior Authorised Person within the UK.

Minimum Requirements:

  • HNC or higher qualification in Electrical Engineer (or suitably equivalent subject)
  • Substantial experience in a project delivery role
  • Excellent computer literacy and competency with SAP systems and processes
  • A strong desire to lead people and project teams
