Lead Civil Engineer

Iberdrola, as a world leader in renewable energies utility, is looking for Lead Civil Engineer for Grid Infrastructure Construction to connect Solar, Wind and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) plants in Italy.

The role of the Lead Civil Engineer for Grid Construction is to guarantee the correct execution of the construction of Electrical Substations (High and Medium Voltage) and Medium and High Voltage Power Lines to guarantee the proper connection of Renewable Power Plants to the grids (TSO and DSO), from a civil point of view.

Managing the BOP/EPC contract for all the civil aspect, supporting the Project Manager an all-relevant aspect (contractual, scheduling, quality, and construction) with the support of the on-site PMO.

The role required a strong capacity to interface internal and external stakeholders, technical and not, in an international environment. Good ability to approach in a correct way taking care of the scenario is requested. Negotiation skills are mandatory during tender phase and contract execution with external Contractors, to proper support the Project Manager.

The position will be based in our offices located in Rome. Travel time will be requested.

Main Responsibilities

1. Support the Project Manager on managing the contract EPC/BOP for all civil aspects during execution. Guarantee the correct execution of the works by the contractors. Define and control the Project execution, controlling and approving the work in progress and the invoicing of the contractor's scope and the incurred out of scope for all civil activities.

2. Define Technical Standard for the execution of civil activities for Substations and High or Medium Voltage Power Lines. Promotes improvement of existing procedures and work execution manuals, adapting them to the needs of Iberdrola Renovables in Italy, giving feedback to engineering and helping the standardization in the future installations.

3. Support in the management of BOP/EPC contracts: Management and coordination of the team to review the engineering documentation, Preparation and review of the Purchase Conditions, Technical evaluation of technical and offers, all other aspects relevant during the Tender Process on Civil Aspects.

4. Support the Project Manager for Substations and Power Lines to define the Project Gantt for civil aspects as well as during the follow up of the project, during the approval of the invoice and the incurred out of scope.

Interfaces

Internal:

o Business Development Team: Daily/Weekly for Project Ready To Build (main authorization process obtained) up to the Work Execution Permits.

o Engineering Team: Daily/Weekly during detailed engineering phase.

o Spain Headquarter: Weekly in order to develop the project, and coordinate with the rest of the areas.

o Project Manager: Daily.

External:

o Contractors: on a daily basis during execution.

o Project partners / Third party access to the Iberdrola network / Other Promoters: Weekly (if applicable). Technical closing of contracts, monitoring of projects, definition of scope, technical closing of contracts, etc. o Ministry and other institutions: In the final phase of the project for acceptance of facilities.

Requirements: Education

• Degree or Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Other profiles can be evaluated in case of extensive experience in the role.

Professional Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in execution of Substations and Power Lines (High and Medium Voltage, preferable cable-ducts).

Specific Knowledge / Technical Skills / Software Requirements

• Experience with Terna/Enel construction policies will be positively evaluated.

• Knowledge of local standard on civil aspects is required (normativa Genio Civile, NTC 2018, Eurocodice)

• Microsoft Office package: full knowledge

• Project: basic knowledge

• AutoCad: full knowledge.
