Supervisor, Underwriting Support (Excess Casualty)

IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Supervisor, Underwriting Support (Excess Casualty) to work out of our Kansas City, Missouri office location to provide day-to-day oversight for Account Managers within the Excess Casualty Underwriting Support unit.

Underwriting Support consists of a team of production-oriented, customer-centric, problem-solving, detail-driven Account Managers. The ideal candidate will have experience leading, coaching, and developing production teams of five or more. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.

• Provides leadership to assigned staff by leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
• Oversees training and quality product output of account management staff.
• Builds effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
• Drives engagement and creates a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
• Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
• Conducts performance evaluations, coaching conversations, team meetings and individual one on ones with staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must Have:

• Bachelors’ degree and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent. The equivalent is defined as 9 years of relevant insurance experience.
• Substantial understanding and knowledge of the Inland Marine and/or Commercial Property insurance products.
• Vast knowledge of Underwriting Support processes and procedures.
• Solid technical background with hands on experience in rating and policy issuance platforms, as well as system testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work throughout the organization at different levels.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills used for interaction with all levels of associates and/or external sources in a variety of settings.
• To qualify, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require, now or in the future, VISA sponsorship for employment purposes.

Preferred to Have:

• Prefer 5+ years of experience as an Account Manager or Assistant Underwriter supporting Inland Marine and/or Commercial Property.
• Prefer 3+ years of coaching, leading and/or supervisory experience.
