Senior DeFi Engineer

Our client is one of the most active investors in Web3, with a portfolio of over 540 Web3 investments, and they are seeking a Senior DeFi Engineer to design, develop, and lead the implementation of DeFi solutions from the ground up. As the sole engineer, you will take full ownership of building a robust, secure, and scalable DeFi platform, driving innovation in decentralized financial systems. The ideal candidate is a seasoned software engineer with deep expertise in Web3 technologies, smart contract development, and DeFi protocols, coupled with proven experience leading projects or small teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy secure, scalable, and efficient smart contracts and DeFi protocols from 0-1.
• Take full responsibility for the development lifecycle, including ideation, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Web3 applications.
• Write, audit, and optimize smart contracts using Solidity (or other relevant languages) to ensure security and performance.
• Lead technical initiatives, define project roadmaps, and make strategic decisions to align with business objectives.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and external partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement robust security measures, conduct code audits, and adhere to industry best practices to mitigate risks in DeFi systems.
• Stay updated on the latest Web3 and DeFi trends, tools, and technologies to drive innovation within the product portfolio.
• Establish and maintain blockchain infrastructure, including node management, testing environments, and deployment pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years focused on Web3 and blockchain technologies.
• Proven expertise in designing, developing, and deploying smart contracts and DeFi protocols.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects or small teams, with a track record of delivering complex systems from 0-1.
• Strong proficiency in Solidity and Ethereum-based smart contract development.
• Familiarity with DeFi protocols (e.g., AMMs, lending platforms, yield farming, oracles).
• Experience with blockchain frameworks and tools (e.g., Hardhat, Truffle, Foundry, or Remix).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with decentralized storage, APIs, and front-end integration (e.g., Web3.js, Ethers.js).
• Ability to work independently as the sole engineer, taking ownership of technical strategy and execution.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling challenges.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and articulate complex technical concepts.

Nice-to-Haves :

• Experience with other blockchain ecosystems (e.g., Solana, Binance Smart Chain, Polkadot).
• Contributions to open-source Web3/DeFi projects or active participation in the Web3 community.
• Knowledge of tokenomics, governance models, or cross-chain interoperability.
