Network Services Engineer Sr

HX5 is currently seeking a qualified Network Services Engineer in support of the support of the Advanced Training Capabilities Division (AFLCMC/WNR) at Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah.
WNR functions as the Air Force's technical, acquisition, and sustainment experts, providing unique and comprehensive support to the warfighter. The ADE Division is responsible for a vast array of USAF systems, including Electronic Warfare, Range Systems, Range Instrumentation, Air Combat Training and Aircrew Readiness, Command and Control Systems, Advanced Radar Threat Systems, Combat Survivor Evader Locator, P5 Combat Training Systems, Black Switch and Legacy Voice Systems. Furthermore, the ADE Division provides support to depot-level sustainment and maintenance efforts, FMS, U.S. Army, Navy, Pacific Air Forces, Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), and Air Education and Training Command (AETC) on a continuous basis.
The Network Services Engineer shall provide Network Services Engineering support to perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of system network engineering to the full spectrum acquisition process with a focus on mission applications. The Contractor shall support the development, acquisition, and accreditation efforts. The Contractor shall collect network topology information, device configurations, and cabling/infrastructure information; identifying technical requirements gaps and assisting project managers in the development of acquisitions documents; evaluating/analyzing network designs for compliance with project and cyber security requirements; performing on-site cyber security fielding verifications; advising program managers on future technologies of systems/networks; identifying/recommending replacement for equipment obsolescence issues and designing/engineering/testing network baselines to meet current/future IA/cyber security requirements to including wired and wireless technologies, networking performance both wired and wireless, and system capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct reviews on the program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications
- Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepares management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using the application of engineering economy principles
- Perform validation of systems, including the development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems with a concentration on end-to-end communications from sensor/source through C2 node(s) to end users
- Provide system engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
- Advise and ensure high-quality work that involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) C2 systems across all levels of the mission environment.
- Network Design & Maintenance: Analyze, recommend, and sustain network architecture and infrastructure.
- Performance & Troubleshooting: Monitor, test, and resolve network issues for optimal functionality.
- Security Implementation: Ensure cybersecurity protocols, encryption technologies, and boundary designs.
- Lifecycle Support: Manage network upgrades, sustainment, and operational maintenance.
- Technical Expertise: Configure and troubleshoot advanced networking protocols, technologies, and performance metrics.
- Documentation: Create detailed network diagrams and document procedures.
- Data Analysis: Test and analyze network pathways for performance and recovery.
- Collaboration: Support Agile execution, DISA engineering, and service-oriented architecture development.
- Infrastructure Assessment: Identify gaps, recommend upgrades, and troubleshoot issues systematically.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage service agreements and acquisitions of circuits and technologies.
Education and Experience: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- BA/BS degree in Information Systems technology or related degree, and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five (5) of which must be in the DoD
- OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the Labor Category performance requirements, five (5) of which must be in the DoD
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's or Doctorate degree, and twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five (5) of which must be in the DoD
- ITW/AA C2 mission expertise and be capable of applying and conveying that knowledge to other mission areas
- Linux Red Hat and Linux security hardening experience, and Cisco Network design experience is desired
- Virtualization (Vcenter, Vsphere, VMWare)
- Link-16 Networks
- Air Force Training Range Experience
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance by date of hire.
- Must be able to travel, including air travel.
