Job Position at 377 Theater Sustainment Command

This position is with the 377 Theater Sustainment Command, 4 Mission Support Element, 4 Expeditionary Sustainment Command located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Responsibilities include coordinating civilian and military personnel programs with the appropriate staff. Providing advisory assistance to subordinate units on civilian/military personnel matters. Managing military and civilian human resources operations throughout the command. Providing technical advice to subordinate commands on personnel issues. Disseminating regulations, directives, and reports pertinent to military personnel. Analyzing Human Resources programs to address problems and deficiencies. Identifying developmental and training needs of employees. Assigning work to subordinates based on the capabilities of employees. Giving advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Planning staff visits with subordinate units to monitor special programs. Advocating as a member within the management team to negotiate union contracts. Articulating errors and providing recommendations of corrective actions. Writing instructions for procedures on complex military personnel management programs. Preparing a wide variety of military and civilian products. Clarifying complex civilian human resources issues via formal correspondence.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) applying knowledge of personnel regulations or policies to manage or direct human resources programs; 2) providing guidance or training to others on military and civilian personnel matters; and 3) recommending solutions to identified human resources personnel problems. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
