Residential Support Staff - Morning Shift

The Residential Support Staff at Homeless Solutions, Inc. is responsible for providing client services to assist in the safe and effective operation of our Shelter facilities. This role is an on-site, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Associate Director of Shelter Services.

The hours for this role are 7 am – 11 am, Monday-Friday. These hours are not flexible and driving is required on each shift.

Duties and Responsibilities will include working with Case Management Staff to understand the individual needs and services for shelter clients to best facilitate their success in our programs, as well as:

Completing routine reports and other administrative tasks, such as:

  1. Daily census / attendance sheets
  2. Incident Reports
  3. Scanning and emailing daily communication reports and other documents to internal and external parties
  4. Fielding phone calls, responding to emails, and handling other front desk operations including screening and admitting visitors, checking guests in, and monitoring security cameras
  5. Provide clerical assistance for programs in support of case management staff as requested
  6. Transporting clients in agency vans to childcare centers, job sites, transportation hubs, and other social service related appointments and functions.
  7. Administering drug and alcohol tests to shelter guests as needed
  8. Completing routine medication monitoring.
  9. Perform regular basic cleaning protocols to facilitate a healthy physical environment and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

Requirements

A. High School Diploma

B. Minimum one year experience in residential facilities preferred.

C. Knowledge, skills and abilities

  1. Valid NJ driver's license required and clean driving record
  2. Experience driving 15 passenger vans or other passenger vehicles a plus
  3. Good oral, written and basic computer skills
  4. Regular and predictable attendance and reliable transportation are required during the scheduled hours for this position.
  5. Physically capable of lifting and carrying supplies, up to 30 pounds
  6. Ability to occasionally move about inside the residential housing facility, including navigating stairs and ramps.
  7. Ability to perform the responsibilities of this role on site at all HSI facilities.
  8. Clarity of vision at close and long range.
  9. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  10. Flexible schedule is a plus.
